The Eye of Typhoon - Tsunami Edition

The Eye of Typhoon is a Korean fighting game created by Viccom (Fight Fever) that was supposed to be released on Neo-Geo in 1996. Alas, the game was only released on 3DO and PC and only in Korea.

Story:
"There was a mysterious fighting art called Kuk-Cho-Ho-Kwon which had been inherited since the Myoung Dynasty. However, it has disappeared and there is nothing left but a legend. Many years have passed and Asian nations such as China and Korea are in the state of chaos. Upon hearing about the mystery of Kuk-Cho-Ho-Kwon, the strong Western powers are desperately trying to recover it. Because of this, many innocent fighters have been destroyed and the secret book of Kuk-Cho-Ho-Kwon is beginning to reveal its real images...

Will Kuk-Cho-Ho-Kwon be resurrected? By whom...?"

Neo-Geo version:
As the prototype of the MVS version still did not surface, the French team Balek (Johnny 16bit & OzzyOuzo) reprogrammed the game using the assets of the PC and 3DO versions.
The game being reprogrammed from scratch, many improvements and touches of humour were made (such as a farting character, a score entry screen with a blond Arnold Schwarzenegger on the Lambada music or interventions of David Hasselhoff, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme).

Team Balek was supposed to release the game in May 2023 on MVS and AES, but brought the release forward to February. This MVS version of Team Balek is the only arcade version available. Needless to say, this Tsunami Edition is not official.

The line-up consists of 12 fighters + 2 hidden playable characters (Powell and Kim Hoon) and a hidden non-playable boss (Mahesvara).
Note that Jarkill was Italian in the original version, he is now Belgian in this version and his moves are in French (Le batteur, La bise du Touquet, Coup de pied de roue, Coupe vite, Vif comme l'éclair).

The originality of the game is the Typhoon mode, which can only be used once per match. It allows you to perform the extra move which can be used at will with just the 2 CD buttons
and the Special/Fatality move with CD + joystick turn.

Version Neo-Geo:
Le prototype de la version MVS n'ayant toujours pas surface, la team française Balek (Johnny 16bit et OzzyOuzo) a reprogrammé le jeu en utilisant les assets des versions PC et 3DO.
Le jeu étant reprogrammé de zéro, de nombreuses améliorations et touches d'humour ont été apportées (comme un perso qui pète, un score entry avec un Arnold Schwarzenegger blond sur la musique de la Lambada ou encore des interventions de David Hasselhoff, Chuck Norris et Jean-Claude Van Damme).

La team Balek devait sortir le jeu en mai 2023 sur MVS et AES, mais a avancé la sortie au mois de février. Cette version MVS de la team Balek est la seule version arcade disponible. Inutile de préciser que cette Tsunami Edition n'est pas officielle.

Le line-up se compose de 12 combattants + 2 personnages cachés jouables (Powell et Kim Hoon) ainsi qu'un boss caché non jouable (Mahesvara).

L'originalité du jeu est le mode Typhoon, qui ne peut être utilisé qu'une fois par combat. Il permet d'effectué l'extra qui est utilisable a volonté juste avec les 2 boutons CD
et le Special/Fatality avec CD + tour de joystick.
