hi i'm new

hi do people still post here or is the forum dead?

i live in antwerp and i like fighting games, but i have a problem. because FPS are now very popular, none of my friends like fighting games too. so i thought that an arcade would be a good solution, but i couldn't find any in antwerp and i don't really want to travel just to play a bit kof, sf or tekken or something....

let's see if i can get a response

I guess you performed a search on the website first and found no location near Antwerpen.

According to this post, there's one in Antwerpen in het De Conincplein. But it's a long time since I last went to Antwerpen, if you go there, could you post the gamelist here? You'll be automatically registered to our Contributors contest. Thank you in advance!

There're surely other arcades in Antwerpen but I don't know them. I remember of a bar where there was a Daytona USA Turbo twin but last time I went, it was replaced by bingos...

There's also Golden Palace in Brussel where they have many fighting games. But riding 50 km to play KOF 2003, Street Fighter 3.3, Tekken 5 or Soul Calibur 2 isn't great.

We're not dead, the problem is that we don't have enough contributors. But the few we have are very active ones. Of course, they search for locations in their area first. Unfortunately, nobody submitted arcade addresses near Antwerpen yet.

We need more contributors from the north of the country. Some said they didn't want to help because there were too much french talking people on the forum but joining the forum is NOT a requirement to enter the contributors contest. Sending e-mails ( mod@arcadebelgium.be ) is good too (and some already did it ).

wow those are more responses than i had hoped for

mortal kombat is indeed IMO not one of the best fighting games, but i used to have a lot of fun when i was younger playing with sub-zero and scorpion...

anyway, i'm not a professional or something i just enjoy playing fighting games (and i am indeed a star gladiator fan, although i don't have plasma sword :'()

i can tell you that 'poolplanet' at the 'rozeveldplaats' (sp?) in antwerp has a tekken tag cabinet.....but i don't really like that place (and i have tekken tag on my ps2)

Yes, Mortal Kombat was very impressive at the time... Nowadays, I realize it's not that good mainly due to the control panel made for Americans (you know the guys with big hands). There's too much space between the buttons!

I have Plasma Sword on Dreamcast. I like the atmosphere but the graphics aren't great at all... (especially aside Soul Calibur on the same machine). But does a game require good graphics to be good?

I think I see where the Pool Planet is. Is the Rooseveltplaats the one with the bus station? If so, I often passed by there to go to USA Import & Wally's Groove World record shops, Super Dragon Toys is nearby too. Yep, these were our shopping dayz in Antwerpen!

there was also 'a shop less ordinairy' (manga- & gamesstore) in that neigborhood but they are just leaving :'(

There are only 2 Super Dragon Toys. We (SophieKitty and I) discovered the one in Antwerpen first (when it was still at the previous address). Then we learned the existence of the one in Brussels. But frankly, even if Antwerpen is further from were we live, I rather like to go there. The girl in A'pen is pretty kind, especially compared to the guy in Brussels . Otherwise, the Brussels' shop was nearly as good as the one in Antwerpen. "Was" because now they have less merchandise than before so there's less choice and it's not as interesting as it was. I don't know about the current A'pen shop state.

At the time, we were often coming to Antwerpen to buy party presale tickets. I was used to visit USA Import, Wally's Groove World (under USA Import basement, now it has his own building), Mekaniek Strip (many mangas too), a shop with an "asian bazaar" at -1 (forgot the name) and Blitz (Bonzai) in Deurne which is now defunct. Nowadays, I rarely go to Antwerpen anymore, except for parties in het Sportpaleis & at the Waagnatie (Hangar 29). But I'll be back there soon for sure!
