Was really cool there! I stayed until around 11 and played a few games on the DDR together with others. Definitely great to see so many people interested in the game, I really hope the place takes off! Were you there as well?

It would be great! thumleft

It's great you could make it there. We were there too from 20:30 till 21:30...
The place looks really cool indeed!

What do you think about the sound volume of the DDR, shouldn't it be set a bit louder?

I guess they will organize DDR tournaments there in the future.

I heard they're thinking about other bemani games as well, what you recommend?

I thought the volume was fine, personally. It's probably easier to hear when the bar isn't completely filled with people Razz
Also, if you were there between 20:30 and 21:30 you probably played on the DDR right in front of me x) We should meet up sometime there, maybe when they do organize a tournament! I might be able to help out with the organization as well if needed.

This would be really, really cool. Jubeat would probably be a really good start, as it doesn't take up much space (about the same as a Sega Net City) and is really easy to get into and get addicted to, plus it has quite some songs people will recognize (Pop, J-Pop, DDR songs, etc...). I think in terms of price they'd be looking at around 1500€ here, shipping from Japan included.
There's also the option of them buying the Beatmania THE FINAL cabinet from the guys at DDR Belgium, which would be less expensive (not sure if I'm allowed to openly state the price here), but would of course be a little older (from 1999) with less songs and no network support.

I got the email address from one of the PLAYER guys yesterday, so I'm gonna ask them about it Smile

Were you the guy with the video camera?  Question
We didn't play the game. In fact, it's our machine. Wink
But frankly, I suck at DDR.
We returned to the bar today to fine tune the screen the best we could (we don't have the control board for that monitor so our field of action was limited, but the picture looks better than yesterday.

I'm pretty sure there will be DDR events there, they're just open for 2 days. I think they'll wait a bit for a local DDR community to grow before they organize tournaments. It would be awesome to have you onboard for this!  Very Happy

Indeed Jubeat is very compact. Personally, I don't like it but the only one I tried was the very first one. My favourite music games at the moment are crossbeats REV., Taiko no Tatsujin Murasaki Ver., Groove Coaster 2 and ReRave Plus... Hmmm now I realize that none of them is a bemani. Embarassed

Regarding beatmania, this game series has the reputation to be too hard for the European audience. If you followed the story in the other thread, I don't think that DDR Belgium would accept to sell it to the Player guys, or maybe without any warranty. Nonetheless, it would be really cool to have a beatmania players could enjoy, even if it's an old version such as THE FINAL. You can't connect to e-Amusement network in Europe anyway so newer versions would be limited to offline mode too.

No, I didn't have a camera with me, but I filmed a few things with my phone. I was mostly around Davy (the asian-looking guy who showed everyone how the game worked) and played a few games against him and an old member from DDR Belgium (Benoit).
And yeah, I did notice the screen being a bit off yesterday too, so it's nice that you managed to fix it now. I thought the DDR belonged to the guys at PLAYER? Or are you one of the people working there?

Yeah, if you need some help with organization, send me a PM or something and I'll see what I can do! I've helped out at a few dutch meetups (FAST2015, DDR-Exp) before, and I'd really like to do something in Belgium as well!

Regarding beatmania being "too hard", I find that that's more of a myth nowadays. It used to be pretty hard (especially early IIDX) to get into, but nowadays we have Beginner mode and charts which are really easy to learn the game with. I work together with the british Bemani scene since 2014 and since we got a IIDX machine, we easily doubled our playerbase (around 20 new active IIDX players). There's also the fact that early beatmania wasn't as difficult to get into, mainly because it has less buttons and easier charts to start out with.

Well, not official Konami e-Amusement, but there's this.

The screen is better but still not perfect because we don't have the control board to access the OSD menu. But Player guys have a compatible screen in another cab so one day we hope to be able to plug that control board on the DDR to achieve the best picture quality.

We don't work there, we rent arcade machines to operators and shops.

I didn't know it existed!!! bom

Unfortunately, the DDR X3 we have doesn't have card readers which I guess are mandatory. Maybe we could buy them separately...
The machine is 100% official with both dongles installed (game and e-Amusement).

By the way, what are the USB port on the front of the cabinet used for? Is it for step charts only?

You can definitely buy them separately. There's been a few arcades that have imported card readers for the games from Japan, the costs are usually around 200-400€ for a set of 2 readers (the cheapest ones are the ones for GuitarFreaks / Drummania). If you need any help with where to order, etc. you can add me on Skype (ap0ske) or just send me a PM and I'll give you a few links.

Thanks a lot! Would that allow players to play with an e-Amusement pass card and have their progress saved as with the official network?

We are low on money these days but we'll definitely consider the investment if it enhances the player's experience.

Thanks for mentioning us in your article! Wink

Yes, exactly! I also wrote to PLAYER themselves about it, explaining how it works, but of course it's easier if it goes directly through you. Players would be able to use their e-Amusement pass to save their scores, make profiles, add rivals from all across Europe, customize the game and unlock new songs. We have some e-Amusement cards in stock too (about 100), so you can get them directly from us without having to pay postage from Japan (they look better than the japanese ones, too Razz)
